Sumetzberger presented an automated specimen transport and sorting solution for clinical laboratories at Medical Fair Asia 2026. The Austria-based company develops hospital pneumatic tube systems and transport automation, and demonstrated a workflow that moves blood collection tubes to the laboratory and automates subsequent handling.
According to the exhibition presentation, tubes are collected and sent to a station where they are automatically unloaded, identified and sorted before being routed to the appropriate analyzers. The system combines pneumatic tube transport, LIS integration and automated sorting to reduce manual handling in pre-analytical laboratory processes.
Founded in 1921, Sumetzberger has been active in pneumatic tube technology since 1964. Its One Touch Pre-Analytic-related solutions connect specimen transport with laboratory automation and are aimed at hospital planners, clinical laboratory departments, healthcare facility designers and government or health ministry stakeholders.

So this is basically the system that we have and we’re very happy that we were able to meet planners and hospital plannersand ministry people who are interested in the system.
