FT TECHNOLOGIES exhibited at COMMERCIAL UAV EXPO 2022.

uh hello my name is Chris Trodden from FDĀ Technologies we produce the world’s toughestĀ Ā
wind sensors these are used for mounting ontoĀ drones as well as for ground stations so whatĀ Ā
wind sensors these are used for mounting ontoĀ drones as well as for ground stations so whatĀ Ā

some of our customers are using these sensors forĀ is for weather profiling or gas detection theyĀ Ā

can also use it for mapping the airflow aroundĀ structures buildings as well as also buildingĀ Ā

these into their autopilot systems on the dronesĀ so the sensors read up to 75 meters per secondĀ Ā
we produce this 250 gram version which has heatersĀ built in for cold weather environments and we alsoĀ Ā
we produce this 250 gram version which has heatersĀ built in for cold weather environments and we alsoĀ Ā

have a lightweight version of this sensor thatĀ we’re currently redesigning for use on smallerĀ Ā

uas systems and drones and we have a prototypeĀ version of that at the moment but we are currentlyĀ Ā

going through the redesign stage and we’re goingĀ to be putting in some extra sensor capabilitiesĀ Ā
to that like pressure temperature humidity as wellĀ as then adding in GPS capabilities and some dataĀ Ā
to that like pressure temperature humidity as wellĀ as then adding in GPS capabilities and some dataĀ Ā

transmission further down the road and yeah so atĀ the moment we have this one which is our surfaceĀ Ā

mount option as well as a direct Mount whichĀ can be mounted onto a pipe for ground stationsĀ Ā

and then here you can see the sensor plugged inĀ I turn on the fan and you can see it reading soĀ Ā

at the moment we’ve got this set up just as a testĀ software so you can see the sensors doing readingsĀ Ā

from either side as I move this around thereĀ is some filtering on this so you can set up theĀ Ā

averaging times of what you need it to be basedĀ on what you’re going to be using the sensor forĀ Ā
and it reads up to 75 meters per second whichĀ should be more than enough for most drone users

okay so this is the FD Technologies winĀ sensor and it uses acoustic resonanceĀ Ā
technology so there’s no moving Parts on theĀ sensor so what we do is we build a very strongĀ Ā
technology so there’s no moving Parts on theĀ sensor so what we do is we build a very strongĀ Ā

resonating signal inside the cavity which isĀ not affected by noise or vibration or shockĀ Ā

so that means that when this is mounted ontoĀ a vehicle or any Moving Systems you’re goingĀ Ā
to get consistent reliable data so thisĀ one at the moment you can see here it’sĀ Ā
to get consistent reliable data so thisĀ one at the moment you can see here it’sĀ Ā

giving directional readings as well as speedĀ if I move the fan around to the other sideĀ Ā

you can see how the sensor quickly reacts andĀ shows you at the moment we’ve got some filteringĀ Ā
in this one but you can get up to a 10 HertzĀ readout from the sensor depending on what you need
