We are from Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Science & Technology, Trivandrum.
This institute comes under the Department of Science & Technology, it’s a Government of India organization.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
We are basically in Medical Device Development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
We make medical devices; we develop them by researching them.
And thereafter the medical device is commercialized after going through different phases, & we transfer that to different industries.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
And here we have showcased our different products of Chitra,
among which more that 40 products are available in the market,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
which are commercialized by different industries.
And there are some we are working on recently,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
like 3D Printing Liver and Skin, then there are PTINR equipment for detecting the plufoment time.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
It is for cancer detection, alzheimer disease detection.
These are all systems on which we are working currently.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Now, I\u2019ll tell you about the products that are in the market already.
So, heart valve, one of Chitra’s first products, was launched in the 1980s.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Chitra made the heart valve, and provided that to TTK Healthcare Ltd.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
And it is exported in more than 80 countries, and implanted in more than 1.6 lakhs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Chitra\u2019s heart valve is the first indigenous heart valve product of India.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Similarly, there is our blood bag.
Chitra was the first institute to introduce blood bags in India.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
And this technology was provided to Terumo Penpol and Hindustan Lifecare.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Now Terumo Penpol is the largest manufacturer of Asia and even a global leader in blood bag manufacturing.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
And in India more than 60-70% market of blood bags is held by Terumo Penpol, which is Sree Chitra\u2019s technology.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
So these are our major 2, as we say golden feather products, Blood Bag & Heart Valve.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Other than those which we have developed recently are Stent, Vascular Graft.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
This is Vascular Graft, this is also commercially available in the market.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Similarly, these are our other Cardiovascular Stents.
This is Stent Graft. Then there is Stent. Ring is there.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
We have transferred these products to an industry named Meril Life Sciences.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
They are doing the clinical validation, and soon it will be in the market.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Other than that, we have our other product like Emily,
this is a contraceptive device, which was the 6th innovation award winner product, which is in the market.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Liquid embolic agent which is used in embolization, specially in the case of brain vein, when there is a blood leakage,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
it is used in that case to stop that.
This is a national award winner product of 2021-22.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
We\u2019ll be transferring this technology as well and will be soon in the market.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
Other than that we have more than 40 products like blood warmer, emergency breath assistant devices, vein viewer,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
so many other products are also there in the market.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
This is the blood warmer.
When you store blood in 2-6 degrees, and thereafter you have to infuse that to the patient, so for that you can keep it and use it at 37.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
So this is blood warmer.
In our recent technologies, as I already told you,
we are having certain technologies like PTINR, Embolic Agents, 3D BioPrinting (where we are working).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
And in 3D BioPrinting we are already having tissue constructs,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
which can be used for drug testing, cosmetic testing.
In the future, like probably 5 years down the lane, we are hoping for the organs or as a whole tissue,<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
